Re: painting after wallpaper removalFrom: info@builderswebsource.com CommentsThe problem with sanding the remaining wallpaper backing is that over-sanding could compromise the integrity of the wallboard paper itself. We recommend that you test a small area first with a fine grit sander to make sure you can achieve good control. Remove just enough of the existing wallpaper backing to expose the wallboard surface without damaging it or roughing it up unnecessarily. Once you've tested a small area with success, continue on with the remaining portions. Then, use a thin skim coat of mud over the entire surface and re-sand to a smooth finish.
