Anytime you're faced with a situation involving replacement of joists under load-bearing partitions, we recommend that you hire a professional who can assess your conditions first hand and perform the required structural remedies. Generally, however, the process involves some type of intermediate support structure to transfer the loads safely to a suitable spot on the existing, undamaged structure. This may range from simple 2x4 bracing to the use of heavy wood or steel beams. Once the structure is suitably braced, the damaged areas can be removed and replaced. The load-bearing walls are reinstalled or re-anchored to the new subfloor, and finally the intermediate bracing is removed. Since every situation is different, there is no one simple answer to your question. Builders Websource
