REMOVING A LOAD BEARING WALLFrom: FEDAUGHTER@HOTMAIL.COM Category: Structural Remote Name: 12.218.177.219 Date: 22 May 2002 Time: 03:03 PM
CommentsI AM BUYING MY FIRST HOME AND I HAVE A WALL THAT IS LINKED TO THE BACKSIDE OF A KITCHEN WALL AND ENDS AT A CORNER TO THE FORYE, THE WALL IS ABOUT NO MORE THEN 12 FEET LONG. THE CORNER OF IT(THE OTHER PART OF THE WALL) HAS A DOOR WAY LEADING INTO THE LIVING ROOM. I WANT TO REMOVE THE DOORWAY, THE LITTLE PIECE OF THAT WALL AND THE WALL THAT DIVIDES THE LIVING ROOM AND THE DEN. THIS WALL IS A LOAD BEARING WALL, CAN I GET AWAY WITH PLACING A PRE MADE POST AT THE CORNER OF THIS WALL OR DO I NEED TO PLACE IT IN THE MIDDLE.(WHICH I WOULD RATHER NOT DO). THE WALL RUNS IN THE SAME DIRECTION AS THE HOUSE. THE WALL IS "L" SHAPED. IS THE A PROJECT I CAN DO MYSELF BARING THERE IS NO ELECTRIC WIRING OR PLUMBING THAT HAS TO BE REROUTED? AND I AM OPEN FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS OTHER THAN PUTTING A POST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM OR LEAVING THE WALL THE WAY IT IS..........THANKS A MILLION, CRYSTAL
