CommentsI have a top floor apartment. due to roof damage, the ceiling started to leak yesterday. a few ceiling tiles fell down, and i do not know how to tell if they are asbestos. they are about 14 inches square and link together and are staples to the lath, so you cannot really tell that they are individual tiles. we think they were installed about 1974. when they fell, they pretty much disentegrated. they are off white, and have a grainy texture and the part that faces down into the room in a white covering and is sticky. (it is still wet)
