Re: Settling in New HomeFrom: info@builderswebsource.com CommentsSettling in a brand new home is definitely of concern. This is a sign that the ground was not properly compacted, or that the foundation was not engineered to address the soil conditions in your area. Of course, without knowing the severity of your settling or the soil conditions or foundation type, we can only state that you should be concerned about this settling and that any offer you might make should be contingent upon a full structural inspection by a licensed structural engineer. A properly built home should experience only minor settling over the life of the structure. Homes that settle more than 1/4" were not engineered or built right in the first place. Builders Websource
