Most of your plan sounds reasonable, however we offer the following suggestions: Place the trench closer to the foundation, but no lower than an imaginary line at a 45-degree downward angle emanating from the bottom base of the foundation slab. Next, we recommend lining the trench with a permeable filter fabric, and placing the French drains with holes face down in the trench. Backfill the trench with washed drainage rock, and wrap the filter fabric over the top of the rock. Top off with soil and grade away from the foundation with a 2% slope. Finally, we DO NOT recommend allowing your downspouts to drain into the French drain system. Rather, the downspouts should have their own closed drainage system (no holes in the pipes)set up to carry the roof runoff to a suitable discharge point. We also recomend periodic cleanouts to clear out any debris that could plug up the pipes over time. Builders Websource.
