Re: basement wall leaksFrom: info@builderswebsource.com Category: Drainage/Waterproofing Remote Name: 63.198.181.43 Date: 03 Apr 2002 Time: 11:52 PM
CommentsConsidering the age of your home (over 100 years old), it is likely that the existing concrete has deteriorated, causing the source of your wet basement walls. In addition, there is probably no drainage installed -- or the drainage is now ineffective. There are products that can be applied from the inside to help seal out water, however these do not always work completely. One product is called Xypex and is described here by the manufacturer, "Xypex is a non-toxic, chemical treatment for the waterproofing and protection of concrete. Xypex's primary and most distinguishing performance feature is its unique ability to generate a non-soluble crystalline formation deep within the pores and capillary tracts of the concrete -- a crystalline structure that permanently seals the concrete against the penetration of water and other liquids from any direction." More information is available at http://www.xypex.com This product should be applied by a trained, certified installer. Good luck. Builders Websource.
