Re: deck framingFrom: info@builderswebsource.com Category: Decks Remote Name: 63.198.181.43 Date: 03 Apr 2002 Time: 11:23 PM
CommentsThe 4x10 beams and 2x8 joists @ 12" centers look reasonable, assuming no heavy snow loads. To ensure an extra stiff deck, however, we recommend doubling up on the 2x8's underneath the area where the hot tub will sit, espcially if you're using pressure-treated lumber which is naturally weaker. If you don't want any sagging, consider running another beam parallel between the two end beams. You'll have a rock-solid deck capable of long-term performance with no sagging. Always secure all framing members with metal clips and use stainless steel screws to reduce failure from corrosion or rust. Builders Websource
