Re: Cathedral CeilingsFrom: info@builderswebsource.com Category: Carpentry and Framing Remote Name: 63.198.181.43 Date: 29 Mar 2002 Time: 10:55 PM
CommentsFor a cathedral ceiling of this size, we recommend using an engineered scissor truss. This provides exceptional strength, as well as plenty of room for insulation, wiring and HVAC ducts. The exterior walls should be fully sheathed, with metal straps wrapping along the top, bottom and center of each corner. In addition, the trusses should be mechanically tied with metal clips to the top plates. Any roof members must be engineered according to expected live and dead loads in your area, accounting also for snow, wind and seismic loads. Builders Websource
