Installing A Ceiling Fan On a Vaulted Ceiling

I want to install a ceiling fan at the peak of a vaulted ceiling with a 6/12 pitch (rather than mounting it on the sloped ceiling on one side of the peak). I would appreciate some advice on the best method of doing this. I am thinking of making a 6/12 pitch block in which I can install the metal junction box that will support the fan, and then securing the block to the ceiling ridge beam, instead of securing the junction box directly to the beam. Can I do this and be in compliance with the NEC? Please note that the ceiling is finished with sheetrock - it is not a beamed ceiling. Geoff
