Marble weighs about 160 lbs/cubic foot. Therefore, your round marble top (5/8" thick by 45" in diameter) probably weights close to 100 lbs. Depending on how you plan to support this, 3/4" plywood should do the trick. We recommend some bracing underneath to prevent the table from sagging.
