Applying a penetrating sealer such as Thomson's WaterSeal or similar will provide temporary, but not long-term protection. Bituminous coatings, such as those made from petroleum or tar-like bases can also be applied to the underneath side of the sill plate. Make sure that your gazebo has proper drainage or overhang to prevent excessive moisture from accumulating near the sill plates. Builders Websource
