We are planning to build an L-shaped two-story addition with 2-car underground garage that wraps around the corner of the kitchen. It involves removing two sides of the exterior wall and adding a point load at the corner. This structural change makes me uncomfortable. I don't know if I am too conservative or I have a valid concern. Is there a technically-sound approach to this at a reasonable costs? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your help.
