The depth of the well is unknown. The supply line is 1 inch into house. I just replaced the pressure switch and the problem has worsened. Pressure normally cycles at 30 - 50 psi. on the pressure gauge. Problem is that switch does not kick in reliably at 30 psi. Power to switch is fine. Water pressure drops to zero and remains for 30 to 60 seconds before switch kicks in the submersible water pump located in the well. Now: pressure has dropped to zero, and switch has not kicked in the pump in the last 12 hours. Thus ,no water at all. Could problem be the submersible pump? If the pump is the problem, wouldn't I hear the pressure switch attempting to cycle when water pressure hits the low kick-in at 30 psi?

The system is around 20 years old. Hold tank and switch were replaced in the last year. All worked fine until recently.
