Jacking a sagging floor-how to and is it the right way?

My house was built in 1955. There is one main girder with piers running
through the center of the house. The laundry/master bath joists span
approximately 15 feet with no piers. Well you guessed it, that area is sagging
(doors not closing, etc.) and seems to have actually moved in the last 6 mos. I
sanded my bathroom door to remedy the "stick" it had and then 2-3
months later it showed up again. Also, I noted that some of my grout in the
shower popped out as well. Not until I really stepped back and looked did I
realize that I had a possible floor problem. Is the fix for this to jack the
house? If so, what does that mean and does anyone have any suggestions for
making sure that it is done properly. Is it 1 jack per joist in the affected
area? I would like to understand the process prior to hiring someone to do it.
Is an engineer recommended in this situation? Any help is appreciated.
