Live load is typically 40 PSF for floors. You'll need to know the "tributary area" to compute how much live load will transfer to the beam. You may be able to buttress the existing "built-up" beam with 1 or 2 additional pieces of lumber. Our BeamChek software can help you figure wood or steel beam sizes based on the design parameters.
