Depending on the depth and size of each shelf, it is usually possible to build it in place by tilting the shelves and anchoring them as you go. As to installing the crown molding, it was unclear where this will go. If you are proposing to install the crown on the inside of the recessed area, you would follow the same rules for installing crown anywhere, with the exception that you may have more limited space in which to work. If you're not an expert at installing crown molding, we would recommend using miters (rather than coping), which is easier for first timers.
