Re: Electrical boxFrom: info@builderswebsource.com CommentsDepending on the weight of the wall-mounted light, we recommend that your provide a secure connection to the studs. However, you can do this without adding a new stud. Simply purchase wall-mount rough-in box with a sliding horizontal metal bar. Each end of the metal attaches to the stud and the electrical box can be conveniently positioned anywhere between the studs. These are available at the Home Depot and other home improvement supply stores for about $4.00. Sometimes they are referred to as "adjustable ceiling boxes." Since you'll be covering up the existing wall with new 3/8" drywall, simply cut a hole in the existing drywall to mount and wire in the new box. Be sure to account for the thickness of the new drywall before deciding how deep to mount the box. Builders Websource
