Re: Weil-McLain AlumiPex Radiant HeatingFrom: info@builderswebsource.com CommentsThank you for bringing Weil-McLain to our readers' attention. This company was recently acquired by SPX Corporation, a publicly traded multi-billion dollar industrial and technology conglomerate. According to Weil-McLain, "AlumiPex® tubing is an advanced three-layer composite pipe consisting of an inner layer of cross-linked polyethylene (PEX)... a layer of overlapped, longitudinally welded aluminum... and an outer layer of PEX... all bonded together with adhesives in the manufacturing process." Features include: The inner and outer layers of PEX protect against corrosion. The aluminum layer prevents oxygen penetration. Easy to bend to the shape desired... will not snap back. Rated for 200° F at 100 psi. Combines the advantages of plastic pipe with the durability and structural integrity of metal. 30-year limited warranty. ASTM F1281 Note that AlumiPex has typically a higher pressure rating at 200° F (100 psi) compared to traditional PEX tubing, which is typically rated for 80 psi @ 200° F. This makes AlumiPex ideal for radiant floor heating as well as baseboard radiant heating applications. Weil-McLain is an ISO-9001 certified company with an excellent reputation. Their products are sold more in the midwest and east coast, however, you should be able to order their products through their resellers or by contacting one of their regional sales offices listed on their website. Go to http://www.weil-mclain.com for additional information as well as excellent technical documentation in PDF format on installation procedures. Builders Websource
