We would need to know the dead load carried by the beam to compute a proper size. Given the considerable weight of a tile roof, this is even more critical. Can you describe the physical dimensions of your roof and indicate how the beam would support the roof? Is it a simple gable roof, or a complex structure? Will the beam be supporting ceiling loads as well as the roof loads? Please describe spans and any other information. We'll do our best to give you additional insight.
