There are a variety of excellent books (see our books section) on roofing and framing practices. While none will address your "rec room" specifically, they provide insight into framing techniques that may be useful.

Builders Websource can also consult with you for a nominal fee (see our services area) and offer recommendations/sketches on roofing considerations, etc. We would need pictures of the existing house and a basic plan of the proposed addition along with some key measurements.
