We just got our home inspection report on the house we just purchased. The
fireplace section stated: "The insulation plate of the pre-manufactured
concrete fireplace was cracked, this condition is a fire hazard." I called
a fireplace company and was told there are two options: 1) never use the
fireplace or 2) remove and replace the fireplace which will cost between $12,000
and $15,000. Do you know of another remedy that is less expensive???
