Re: Foundation accessFrom: info@builderswebsource.com CommentsWe apologize for the delay in responding to your reply. We inadvertently missed it. Given that your metal door is completely rusted out, you have two alternatives: 1) You can have a sheet metal shop make you a new one (including a new frame) out of stainless steel, which you can paint. This will last much longer. You may have to get creative in how you mount the new frame to the existing foundation. In either case, you'll have to remove the existing door and cut through the frame if it can't be easily removed. 2) Or, you can build a wood door. We did this for our crawlspace access panel
and it works great. Any competent carpenter can do this job for you depending on
your woodworking skills. You'll need to build a basic frame to which the door
attaches with a couple of hinges that allow the door to open free and clear of
any obstructions. When considering how to build this frame, try not to shrink
the size of the opening in order to allow plenty of room to get in and out. Good luck! Builders Websource
