Re: nailing board and bat siding to sip panelsFrom: info@builderswebsource.com CommentsWe always recommend discussing your requirements with the manufacturer first. They often have technical data sheets and installation guidelines. In addition, warranty protection often hinges on whether or not you follow proper procedures. However, the 1/2" OSB should generally be adequate for securing siding. Sometimes, runners are used to provide an air gap. Check with your building department on any local code requirements or recommendations. Also, proper waterproofing of the OSB is important by ensuring attention to the paper and flashing around openings, including windows and doors. As to type of anchor to use, if your siding is redwood, you don't want rust to show bleed through. So, be sure you use galvanized nails or stainless steel or specially coated finishing screws. Also, you may need to back-prime the siding so it doesn't absorb moisture. We hope these tips help! Builders Websource
