nailing board and bat siding to sip panels

I'm building a house using foam core (sip) panels with 1/2" OSB on the exterior side. I would like to apply 1x12 redwood board and bat siding to this surface. What kind of nails or screws should I use and where should they be placed? Or is there just not enough base to hold the siding in place?
