Is the metal frame still in good condition, or is it rusted through too? If the frame is intact, is there any easy way to remove the door from the frame? There must be some sort of hinge, correct?

If the door can be removed, you could take it to a sheet metal shop to have a replacement made. To prevent future rusting, make it from stainless steel. Priming and painting the door will keep it operating in peak performance for years to come.
