furnace hot water supplyFrom: mjanna@email.com CommentsI am a new homeowner with far too many questions. One question I would like answered is the operation of my furnace for supplying hot water to my hot water tank. I understand the principle that it preheats this water and saves the energy needed by the hot water tank to do this. I'm not sure if I want this because it seems to be using up a lot of oil. (Furnace system is oil/hot water thru radiators). There are bypass valves in the basement to stop the water thru the furnace. Will turning these stop the furnace from always running to keep the water at the hot temp? There are also switches on the furnace for high and low temp. What does this mean and where should these be set? I live in PA and we have had a very cold winter. I just want to do what will benefit me in the long run. Thank you, Mike.
