Dear Sirs. Thank you for your recent responsee - I love this website! In reference to the use of EPS foam as a protection board against a below grade bituminous foundation coating, I have 5 short questions.

1. Can you please recommend a 4'x8' EPS panel manufacturer who makes an insect-resistant EPS panel with drainage channels to promote water drainage between the EPS and the membrane. The panels I have found that are termite resistant are flat.

2. Is ground treatment resistance for termite and other tunneling insects sufficient or is an insect resistant EPS required?.

3. You mention that the foundation should be "keyed" to prevent infiltration- What is "Keyed"?

4. My builder has agreed to both external, above the footer french drain (required by county code) and an internal drain tile (gravity drained or sumped depending upon grade). He feels however, that drainage holes in the CMU block along the interior lower run of block draining under the slab into the drain tile is a bad idea. He would rather these drain holes be to the outside french drain- What is your feeling concerning this arrangement?

5. Finally, My Energy Star representative recommends I use an EPS sub slab panel throughout the entire area under the basement slab above the gravel and 6 mil poly. My builder thinks this foam will allow too much flexing and will crack the slab over time. The Energy Star publication application recommends the EPS foam only around the perimeter within 24" of the wall. What are your recomendations concerning this sub-slab EPS panel. Thanks again -  you all are great!
