We recently purchased a newly constructed home, which after rains has standing water around the house. We know that our soil has a lot of clay in it, and we are also located on the bottom of a hill. We have had several landscape companies look at it, and we are getting lots of different answers. After a good rain, the water will remain for 2-3 days in large puddles that are about 5 feet in diameter and up to 3 inches deep. We have about three to four such puddle areas, and they are all located within 15 feet of the house. We are concernd about our foundation and we are not sure if we need a French drainage system, or something similar. Any recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you
