Floating/hanging basement wallsFrom: brian_atkins@firehunter.com CommentsI live in Northern Colorado, where our basement walls have to "hang" from the joists above, due to bentanite clay and potential heave. Naturally, the foundation walls which run parallel to the joists are out too far to hang the wall from. I don't have clearance to build hangers from the nearest joist to the foundation wall. How do I hang a wall there? One suggestion is to use brackets to fix the wall to the foundation wall (by hanging the top sill on brackets nailed into the concrete). Any code issues with this? Any other ideas? Thanks! Brian Atkins
