We have a 24X60 home we built on a monolithic slab about 5 years ago. At the south end included in the 60 feet (14X24)we had a workshop which we would like to convert for additional space on the home. We would like to remodel it to include an upper story and expand it out over the home, as well as coming out about 12 feet. The addition would then expand the length from 24' to 36' and width from 14' to 25'. It would make an "L' shape on the ground floor and then add an exta story on that addition. Our question is, will the monolithic slab hold this type of addtion, or would be better off to go with new footings?
