Re: cutting lath and plaster wall - more informationFrom: info@builderswebsource.com CommentsAlso, one additonal point of caution: if you are cutting through old lath and plaster, there is a good chance that the wall may contain lead-based paint and/or asbestos. You must assume this is the case and thoroughly seal off the room with heavy plastic. Wear eye protection and a mask designed for lead or asbestos removal. Carefully sweep all dust into a plastic bag and dispose of it immediately. Do not perform this work if you your or someone in your home is pregnant or with small children. Lead and asbestos contamination can be very serious and most people are not aware that tampering with old walls can produce airborne contamination that infiltrates the entire house.
