Re: Oil over LatexFrom: info@builderswebsource.com CommentsMany professionals recommend against painting oil over latex paints. Latex paints are flexible and could cause premature cracking of the harder oil finish. However, according to Zinsser's website at http://www.zinsser.com you can use Zinsser Bullseye 1-2-3 primer over any painted surface...and repaint with oil or latex. "Bulls Eye 1-2-3 is a fast-drying white-pigmented acrylic latex (water-thinnable) undercoat. It is formulated for use on all types of exterior and interior surfaces - previously painted or new work. Any oil or latex finish paint can be applied over it." Before going to this effort, we also recommend you double check with the paint manufacturers you've used. They may have additional advice. The key to any paint job is proper preparation, priming and patience! Builders Websource
