Re: stucco color coatFrom: info@builderswebsource.com CommentsGenerally, stucco should be applied only when the temperature is above 40 degrees F for at least 24 hours. Since unpainted colorcoats generally absorb moisture readily, it is not uncommon to see discoloration of the stucco when exposed to rain or irrigation overspray. The lower parts of the wall are most likely to be exposed to water since the eaves provide little protection against a driving rain. There are products on the market, such as Merlex MicroSeal that are siliconized clear coatings that help to prevent moisture penetration while allowing the stucco to breathe. You might try a test area to see if this solves or mitigates your problem. More information is available at: Alternatively, you can always prime and paint the stucco with a high quality latex coating. This will give a uniform appearance and help protect the stucco from moisture penetration. Of course, this is a significant added step that may not be what you had in mind. Builders Websource
