Offset hingesFrom: skhebert@email.com CommentsI painted dark stained (early 70's) kitchen cabinets. My old hinges were 3/8 offset but not self-closing. The screw holes seemed to match when I compared the hinges. I mounted all 53 new 3/8 offset hinges on the doors, using the old screw holes and the new hinge fits flush into the offset. When I tried to install them onto the cabinet, I discover the hinge is slightly flexed. When I used the original cabinet face screw holes, the hinge flange flattened as I tightened the screws and forced the door slightly over, away from the hinged side. Because of the offset, the doors now would not close correctly. So far I have only been able to get them to semi fit by holding the hinge slightly open (with a piece of stiff wire) ; holding the doors in place because of the offset; remarking the screw holes on the cabinet face and hoping the offset portion of the door will end up where it is suppose to be. - 10 hours and 5 doors are hung but still not the way they should be. What am I doing wrong? There are 18 more --some single (offset all the way around) and some double (straight cut where the doors meet). What is the correct procedure? Any help would be appreciated Thank you Sandy
