However, to give you an idea, our home has a clear span in the garage that uses a glulam beam that is approximately 6x19. This beam spans 23 feet and carries a single story load above, with a tile roof. It is anchored on each end with an heavy steel saddle bolted to the glulam and to 6x6 posts on each end. I would strongly advise you contact a local structural engineer to run a calcuation for you and design a proper anchoring method to safely transfer the loads to the foundation.
