Refinishing a hardwood floor

We are refinishing a birch hardwood floor in our home. When we first put it in, we used an oil-based polyurethane type finish on it called Fabulon. After we sand it, do we have to use the same product(Fabulon) again or some other oil based polyurethane product, or can we use one of the newer water-based products? We are putting birch hardwood floor throughout the rest of our house, and are trying to decide if we can use pre-finished flooring that has a water base finish and have it look good next to the old floor that is getting refinished. Or should we use the same unfinished flooring we used before (we can still buy from the same manufacturer and finish it with Fabulon or a different product)? Using pre-finished flooring would certainly make the job alot easier and less messy. Thanks for your help.
