Re: US vs. Foreign Tileanswers to questions...From: basebalmom00@yahoo.com CommentsFor now, I just want to know how/where to find the answers to questions on this site? Chances are, I will not be able to find them here, so would you please email me with the "how to" to get to the answsers? I am very interested in many of the questions. I know this seems like a silly request, but I couldn't be more serious. Thank you. From: info@builderswebsource.com CommentsWhether tile is US or foreign made has no direct bearing on its quality. You can find a wide range of styles and qualities from most countries. However, some countries are particularly well known for their tile. Many of the world's most beautiful porcelain and ceramic tiles come from Italy and Japan where artisans have an eye for good styling coupled with high quality fabrication. When it comes to granite and marble, most of these are quarried in Asia, India, Italy, and Brazil, although many more countries have local producers that make beautiful products. Ultimately, the style of tile you prefer will drive where it's made. Some people like the hand-crafted look and feel of Mexican pavers -- which are inexpensive, rustic, and cozy. Others prefer a highly durable, polished finish typical of Japanese porcelain. In the US, there are several excellent makers of tile that offer a wide range of selections. I recommend you visit several tile shops to get a feeling of the different styles....then pick the one(s) that give you the look you want...that fits within your budget. Since the biggest cost of the tile job is the installation itself, pick your materials wisely since you'll be living with your choice for years to come.
